“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Psalm 121:8
I just got back from a long trip, to Atlanta, to officiate at the wedding of my cousin’s son. It was a great wedding, and I know Andrew and Kate will have a good marriage. However, I was very weary when I got back, and pretty tired of airports.
Maybe life seems like a long, tiring, journey right now and you feel pretty weary. Perhaps you aren’t quite sure whether you are coming, or going, some days. Sometimes, it can even feel as if you are living your life in the midst of an airport terminal, waiting for the next flight, alone, discouraged, and tired.
Do not be afraid. You are not alone. The Lord Himself has promised to be with you, His child, in all your comings and goings. Not just in the everyday busyness of work, schedules, and rushing about, but in the big comings and goings of your life too. In birth and death, great beginnings and terrible disasters, good times and bad, and in the joys and sorrows, He will be there.
Our God entered into this busy world in the birth of His own Son…who became a man, suffered, and died for the sins of a weary, over busy, world. Then He rose to give you eternal life and a whole new beginning in Him.
In the midst of a crazy busy world, our Lord Jesus is never too tired to care for you, to listen to you, or to intercede for you. In Him you are never alone, never defeated, and never without hope. He who brought you into this world has redeemed you, will watch over you, and will take you home. Amen.
