For Thine is … the Power…

“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth.”
Psalm 33:6
The Lord has all power. By one word spoken by Him, by the breath of His mouth, by one uttered syllable, the heavens were created, the stars were put into place, man became a living being. God has power to create and He has power to destroy. He has power to make life happen and to make life cease.
And He assures us that this power that He has is not capricious. He does not create and destroy willy nilly. He is not a God of chaos and confusion, but a God of order and clarity. He not only creates and orders the universe, placing the stars in the heaven and the planets in their orbits, but He has a plan for your life. A plan not for evil but for good, a plan to give you a future and a hope. A plan to give you life.
Real life. Eternal life. Life abundant with Him. A life full of His goodness and glory. A life designed for His purposes and your good.
When you look up into the heavens, as a childless Abraham did so many years ago, may you hear the Lord’s Word of life to you in Christ Jesus, “Look up at the sky and count the stars – if indeed you can count them…. So shall your offspring be.” To those who are dead and hopeless, He gives life and hope. To those without a future, He gives eternal life. To those separated from God, He makes them part of the family of God.
Lord Jesus, when I look up into the heavens and see your power displayed, give me assurance that You love me and that You give me life. Amen.
