“I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.”
Ephesians 1:16b-17 New Living Translation
I’ve seen a lot of media that warns about dangers lurking all around us. The utilities department recommends that you check your house annually for radon, which can cause lung cancer. We should avoid food containing free radicals to stay healthy and youthful. Currently, Colorado has avalanche and icy road warnings. There are many notices we get about products, activities and environments that are bad for us. But are these warnings in our best interest or to lure us into buying someone’s product for their interest? If we aren’t well-informed, we are left to either make decisions in hopes of avoiding as many threats as possible or ignoring them and hoping we won’t be affected.
Spiritually we face countless situations that are fraught with danger, but we may not pay attention to the warning signs. We might not even believe that any danger lies ahead. Fortunately, we are not alone in this battle for our soul.
What’s our best defense? Someone once said that if you want to recognize a counterfeit dollar bill, learn everything you can about a real one. Knowing who God really is from His Word gives us insight to discern truth from lies and understand the threat lurking around us.
We’re blessed to be freely offered the gift of wisdom through the Holy Spirit, who helps us recognize the danger signs. His wisdom bolsters us to make spiritually smart decisions and avoid activities that could negatively affect the health of our souls.
The more fully you know who God really is, the easier it will be to discern truth from lies and rebuke Satan’s sneaky attacks. Strengthen your relationship with God, grow in the knowledge of His word and live in the safe space only found in Christ your Savior.
