Drifting?

A Firm Place to Stand

“He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
Psalm 40:2b

Where do you stand in the great river of life?

Are you just drifting, unsure of where you are going and no anchor in sight?  Are you easily swept along by whatever tide rolls in, moved by whatever trend or impulse that comes along?

In the midst of great personal and political upheaval and change in his life, David had a firm place to stand.  His feet were firmly planted on God’s Word and His promises.  Storms might come and currents might tug at David’s heart, but God’s Word would not be moved!

What forces are pushing and pulling at you right now?  Is the culture telling you what to believe?  Are there friends pressuring you to do what you know is wrong in God’s eyes?  Are you selling your soul for temporary gain or popularity or avoidance of being uncomfortable?

Stop drifting with the tide!

Tie your boat to the Rock that does not move.  Stand firm in the Lord your God who is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone and you will be saved.

There are many currents threatening to pull you away from the Lord.  Cling to the One who alone can give peace and does not move.  A thousand kingdoms may rise and fall, the mountains may fall into the depth of the sea, but the “Lord Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our Refuge!” (Psalm 46:7)

Trust in Him alone!

Lord, you are my Rock and my Stronghold, a sure place in time of storm.  I trust in You and You alone.  Amen.
