Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Psalm 139:7-10 ESV
I stare in wonder and awe at Pikes Peak every day. Whether from my reading window, on a chilly walk or photographing families. There it is — in all its splendor and majesty. Does that view ever change or cease to amaze?
I’m going to guess that it doesn’t. Sure, the way we view the mountain and how it appears shifts with the seasons. Whether snow capped and partially covered by clouds, beaming with the pink glow of morning or fading into the night sky, the scene is a true work of art. God’s work of art. As I stare at the mountain in the distance, I am reminded of a quote from preacher and theologian Jonathan Edwards. He said, “Nature is God’s greatest evangelist.”
That beautiful peak serves as a beautiful reminder — of God’s creativity and omnipresence. How often do we truly stop to consider all He’s done for us? How often do we acknowledge all the ways He goes before us?
Let’s do this now. Will you join me? Let’s pause and create space to recognize His presence, both present and past. Do you see and feel His calm as the storm rages? Do you recognize true, unsurpassed peace amidst the chaos of the world? Maybe it’s the encouragement you needed on a day that felt dark. Maybe you felt Him holding you as you prayed, providing the words you couldn’t find. Maybe you see Him in His grand creation. Maybe it’s a simple smile or a hug. Or maybe it was you that God used to be a light for someone else. Every day is an opportunity to recognize His goodness, His grace and His nearness. Our God, our Immanuel, is with us… for good.
