“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV
God has made countless promises that we read throughout the Bible, both in the Old and the New Testament. A few of the many categories of promises include salvation, protection, mercy, blessings, and forgiveness.
God is faithful in ALL of His promises.
God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ. The promises made to Abraham, Isaac, Noah, Joseph, Job, and all the other Old Testament Israelites and prophets and followers were made complete in Jesus Christ. Jesus became flesh and became the perfect fulfillment of the law.
God made His promises to His people, knowing Jesus would follow through in His sacrifice. The certainties of the outcome were fulfilled in Christ. We have our continued faithfulness in God because of Jesus. We read and witness that Jesus fulfilled all of the Old Testament promises. The Savior Messiah came and rescued. The promised Messiah brought salvation and forgiveness of sins.
God’s promises never fail.
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
Genesis 28:15 NIV
Lately, I have clung especially onto the promise that God is with us, always. When Jesus came to earth, He was given the name “Immanuel” which means “God with us.” Our Savior will not leave us. His promise is as true today as it was when He spoke these words to the Israelites. God is forever with us, watching over us, walking alongside us, and guiding us towards Him.
