Praises to the King

“Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.” Psalm 47:6-8
God is the King of all the earth. All honor and praise and adoration are His due. You and I must fall down before the King and worship Him!
But how does that King come? Does He come with pomp and circumstance and great power and glory? No, He comes in a manger, born of a virgin, proclaimed by angels to common shepherds. He comes to suffer and He comes to die, yes, even to die upon a cross. He comes not to be served but to serve, to give His life, His royal blood, for the sins of the world.
And so, with the shepherds and the angels we must praise Him. Not only for His glory and power and might, but especially for His mercy and humility and love. The King is to be worshiped because of His obedience and His sacrifice and His amazing grace.
The King reigns forever and ever, for death could not hold Him. And when you and I view Him when He comes again in His glory and might, we will praise the Lamb who was slain, the King who died for you and me.
This is the King you praise and worship, a King not only of glory, but a King of the cross.
“Gentle Mary laid her child Lowly in a manger;
There He lay, the Undefiled To the world a stranger.
Such a babe in such a place, Can He be the Savior?
Ask the saved of all the race Who have found His favor.”
