Gold Streets

Each day is a chance to make a heavenly difference.

Heaven feels far away, but sometimes we get a glimpse and realize it’s closer than we think.

When Jesus came to Earth, he asked us to pray what is now known as the Lord’s Prayer. A portion of that prayer includes:

“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10

While we are waiting to go to heaven, what are we doing today to display its presence here? Worship, prayer, and helping those in need are all ways we can grow a relationship with Christ in us, and hopefully in others.

There are days when I rely on people with whom I have a bond, and we take turns bearing each other’s burdens. They bring heaven to me when I can’t do it on my own. My hope is that I do the same for them. This is the model of the body of Christ.

It’s why we’re in community with others.

The picture above is a normal street that could be in any town. However, the way the sun caught it, at the perfect time of day, made me think of this verse:

“And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”
Revelation 21:21

Yes, heaven is magnificent, and amazing, but we have unfinished business here. How do we know? Because, he gave us another day here to make a difference.

Receive his love, surrender to him, give love back to him, and to others. God has made the process of relationship with him a simple one.
