Goodness of God

Getting to Know God

The goodness of God is something I could blog about every week. His goodness and kindness know no bounds and are never ending. As we get to know God, it’s good that we help others experience His goodness, also.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
Psalm 34:8 English Standard Version

He created all of the people on Earth but not all know Him. The ones that do know God can hide in His care.

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” Nahum 1:7 English Standard Version

“Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!”
Psalm 31:19 English Standard Version

While I’m picking verses to use in the blog today, I realize all of them are from the Old Testament. This is interesting because I find many Christians see only the fear and violence that God inflicts in the Old Testament. But if God is always the same wouldn’t it make sense that He would be a good God in both the Old and New Testaments?

Our experience of God matters not only for ourselves but how we portray Him to the world. Is God capable of crushing mankind? Absolutely. Should we fear Him? Always. But letting Him love us as only He can is the cure for so much that ails us. He always has our best interest at heart and wants only the best for us. God will always be alpha and omega, beginning and end. Everything about God is more than we can comprehend but as we get to know Him He will reveal more of His nature.
