An Abundance of Blessings

“For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
Luke 1:16 English Standard Version

My husband and I were recently quite sick. Fevers, chills, body aches, upset stomachs, coughs. It was a very rough week (plus some extra days!) and because we were sick at the same time, parenting was especially difficult. Several times I prayed, begging to be healed as quickly as possible!

When we finally were just starting to feel better, but not quite well enough to go out, my amazing parents bought us Chick-fil-A and my dad delivered it to us at our house. It was such a treat that I wanted to cry with gratitude, both for my parents and for my body starting to heal! When we opened the bag of food we discovered an abundance of sauces. It tickled me so much that I took this picture; I didn’t even know that Chick-fil-A made many of these sauces! When I asked my dad about it he said he told the employee that he didn’t know what kind of sauce we wanted, so the person just put in some of everything.

I forget sometimes when things are rough that God wants to and DOES pour an abundance of blessings over us. As much as we can, it helps to open our eyes to our blessings and pray, not just begging to be healed, but in thanksgiving of what has been poured over us. In my sickness I had medicine to make my fever go down, a warm house to sleep in, food to eat when I was ready, a spouse to commiserate with and who loves me even at my worst, family who checked in on us, and on and on. Most importantly, I had a God who loves me and was with me.

Lord, help us to open our eyes and thank You for the abundance of blessings that surround us!
