“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Acts 2:42 New International Version
Believers in every time have devoted themselves to gathering around God’s Word, around the Lord’s Supper, and in prayer. Sometimes doing this has been harder than at other times. Right now is one of those harder times.
In today’s picture, Pastor Bruce is leading a small, socially distanced group of believers in an outdoor communion service. We cannot gather more than 25 people at a time in our county, so…. we are worshiping in groups of less than 25. We continue to gather around God’s Word, around the Lord’s Supper, and in prayer.
I come from a farming background and in farming, life is a series of “How do we fix this to make it work?” events. When you are in the middle of harvest you have to find a way to keep the machinery running and get the crop in. And so, in the midst of many obstacles and restrictions, we will find a way to continue to gather, hear, commune, pray.
How are you adjusting right now in your life to the many obstacles you are experiencing? Where there may be frustration, ask the Lord for wisdom and grace to hear His Word, to gather with other Christians, to commune, to pray. God’s people will do these important things and our Lord will provide a way to do them.
For when we were lost in our sins and in our darkness, God found a Way to come to us and save us in His Son. Praise God that He opened the Way for us to Him in Jesus Christ and that He will open a way for us to gather, hear, commune, and pray. Amen.
