Happy Resurrection Sunday! To be honest, writing devotionals is often intimidating for me. It only happens because of prayer and the Lord providing content. Today feels especially intimidating. Are there even words to fully express how far He goes and how deep His love runs? There are. They aren’t mine though.

A handful of people had first-hand accounts. They witnessed His ministry, His death and resurrection. They actually stood in the presence of the risen Lord. They viewed and felt the nail holes. Because they had a front row seat, we now have honest, emotional and transformational truth about our Savior. Today, especially today, it felt best to hear just a few words from them.

And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshipped him. Matthew 28:9 ESV

“The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” Luke 24:34 ESV

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your fingers here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe. Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:27-28 ESV

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:30-31 ESV

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24

We weren’t meant to be there then. We were meant to be here right now. Our testimonies, transformations and personal relationship with Jesus are part of His story too. Our words are powerful. Some of the last words Jesus shared with his disciples on earth were that of The Great Commission. He is risen indeed. Now we go and tell the world.
