His Strength

“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]”
Philippians 4:13

I was (am) an athlete. I competed in Division-I track and field in college. I’ve completed multiple races, triathlons, etc. To sum it up, I’ve been active my entire life.

In the last three years I’ve struggled with low energy, weight gain (40 pounds now), headaches, and many more symptoms. I don’t feel like doing much for two or three weeks out of the month. I’ve been to doctors that have searched for answers, but so far they’ve been unable to determine the cause. I’ve received prayer, from multiple people, with little long-term relief.

It’s been frustrating and disheartening.

The verse above is more than encouraging, it’s imperative. I know that at a moment’s notice, if God has something for me to do, He will give me the energy and has given me the energy. I’ve learned, in the past few years, how to let Him be my strength and energy.

I also know that Satan would love nothing more than to see me out of commission. Becoming hopeless and distraught is a win for the man in red. Sometimes our greatest contribution in a situation is prayer, and we can offer it anywhere…in any condition. Prayer, and praise, are some of the biggest weapons in the spiritual war.

I’m not giving up. I continue to seek prayer for my health, and I just had another appointment with the doctor last week. I will continue to ask for prayer, and I will try another round of super clean eating.

I don’t think this is God’s best for me, but I know He has an answer. Until then I will praise Him, celebrate the good days, and hang onto Him in the not so good.

  1. Dear Elizabeth- please don’t feel disheartened. I have walked your path so often. I am 60 now and also a warrior for Christ. I want to share my weight loss success I have found thru the DASH DIET Weight Loss Solution. Since May I have lost 20 lbs easily. This forever Plan is honest, easy to live by and written by a dietician. It’s main goal is to lower blood pressure and cholesterol. I’m no longer on blood pressure meds and my cholesterol has dropped by 40 points. I thank god for leading me to this new healthy lifestyle. I feel I CAN maintain this healthy eating lifestyle forever until my Lord calls me home. God’s blessings to you to feel strong and healthy once again.
