The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Psalm 19:1, New International Version

There is something mundane, yet beautiful, when the clouds part, following the rain, and low-lying fog still shrouds the ocean’s coast.  The sun, all but spent from another days traversing of the skies, sinks to the horizon, like me when I sigh as I sink into bed at the close of the day.  Then, just then, the bright star that enlivens our world suddenly proclaims and points to the One Greater! Yes, the heavens declare the glory of God!

St. Paul declared, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made….” (Romans 1:20).

Take a look around today.  Where do you spot the glory of God, the work of his hands?  Even if the sun is hidden behind thick clouds where you are, there is still plenty of evidence of the Lord’s handiwork.  There is the mark of his Glory all around you!  It’s worth a look, a deep look.

The poetry of God’s creative work is more wonderful than human language can adequately describe, but we honor him with that language nonetheless.  We honor him with our eyes, which look up and around, and behold the declared glory of God.  I declare!  I DO declare!  Look and see that the Lord is good.

Don’t forget, by the way, to look in a mirror today.  It is there that you will also see the glory of God, the work of his hands.  “For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made….” (Psalm 139:13-14).  Yep, there it is, looking back at you from the mirror.  A declaration of the glory of God…a proclamation of the wondrous work of his hands.

I DO Declare!  Glory!
