“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 New International Version

My friend Mick stands with others at the Western Wall in Jerusalem and offers up his prayers.  Many Jews come to this wall, the foundation stones from the temple at the time of our Lord Jesus, and offer up prayers for themselves and their people.  When Solomon dedicated the first temple in Jerusalem, the Lord appeared to him and promised that “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Even today, as believers in the Messiah, the Lord Jesus, as we humble ourselves and repent of our sin and pray and seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways, the Lord promises to hear our prayers for the sake of Jesus Christ and will forgive our sins and heal our land.  He does not do this because of the number or fervency of our prayers or our faithful devotion to Him, but he promises to hear and forgive for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, who poured out Himself as a Sacrifice for the sins of the world.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world would be saved through Him.  And because of God’s great mercy, we are not destroyed, but instead He hears our repentant prayers and forgives and heals.

Although you may never be able to offer up prayers at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, the Lord hears your prayers for Jesus’ sake, and He forgives and heals. Amen.
