…All Things Hold Together

I love the image for consideration today. I found myself with some great friends and we went to a fun experience of a western dinner and a show. There was a small crowd that was gathered, but I noticed there were all ages and nationalities present. We were at the Flying W Ranch in Colorado Springs and that ranch has been entertaining crowds since the 1950s.

That is when I saw this couple. Two older folks, a married couple, and I saw the husband pushing his wife’s wheelchair up a bit of an up slope. Many folks offered to help, including me, but the husband was resolute and perhaps a little bit stubborn. Which I think is awesome!

But if you look closely at his shirt, you can read the words “In Him…all things hold together”. All things! Even a marriage that has been going for decades, long after the body has broken down. What an image of love and devotion, of care and faith.

If we read the passage that this quote if from in Colossians 1, we find it is all about Jesus:

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross”.

I pray that no matter how old you are, if you are married or single, that you find yourself in Christ! In Him all things hold together. Your family, your faith, your job, your kids, your day, your life!
