In Unity

Coming together for a common goal

We’ve had a bit of snow in Colorado over the past couple of weeks, and some areas have received a little more than others. A group of neighborhood youth, undaunted by yet another attempt to become isolated, came out this week and built a snow tower. This undertaking required some ingenuity, strength and teamwork, and the results have impressed many in the neighborhood.

The weather will be warming up again this week and the tower will soon be gone. Yet, the experience will live on in the memories of the youth who built it, and they’ll have another Covid-19 story to tell to the generations that follow. It’ll be a story of determination and encouragement, and maybe it’ll become a fish story as to how tall the finished tower actually was.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25 New International Version

For the past year, it has often been easier to stay home and keep to oneself. Weary of wearing masks and the non-stop public service announcements reminding us to keep a distance, we might be tempted to maintain our required routines: working, essential errands, and chores at home. For some, our lives may be monotonous. We may even wonder what it will feel like to resume a more normal life once the pandemic ends.

Is there someone you haven’t spoken with since the pandemic began? Perhaps call them or drop a note. Nothing fancy – let them know they’re in your thoughts, and you hope to see them again soon, when spring arrives. Easter is coming, and we will celebrate the risen Christ as the earth wakes up from its winter slumber.

How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!

Psalm 133:1 New International Version

We look forward to humanity coming back to life, and the whole of God’s people proclaiming: “He is risen indeed! Alleluia!”
