“She wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Luke 2:7b

They had traveled so many miles and gone through so very much.  They were misunderstood by family and friends and rumors about the unplanned pregnancy followed them.  And then the emperor’s decree forced them to travel to far away Bethlehem.

And now with the baby coming, there was no room for them in the inn.  No warm private room, no midwife, no friendly faces.  What could God be doing?  Was there no room for the Savior of the world?

It is nearly Christmas once again, the celebration of the birth of the Christ who was born in a manger.  He came to save us from our sins… and there was no room for Him in the inn.  He comes for you, this Christmas,  to save you from your sins, to give you pardon and grace and eternal life.  Is there room for Jesus at your house?  Is your heart open to the Savior of the world?

This Savior comes for the poor and the weak and the needy.  He comes for all those who will admit they need a Savior, a Redeemer.  He comes for those repentant and humble of heart.  He comes for you.  Will you open your house and your heart to Him?

Father, thank you for sending Jesus into this world to save me.  I open my house and my heart to you.  I admit I need you, that I am poor and weak and needy, that I am a sinner who needs your forgiveness and grace.  Come, Lord Jesus, come and be my Guest … and my Savior.  Amen.
