Never Thirst Again!

Living Water…

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.”
John 4:13-14

The woman Jesus met at the well in Samaria had lots of problems.  She had problems with relationships, problems with acceptance, problems with no indoor plumbing.  When she met this unusual Jewish man, she thought that maybe He could help her with the long walk to the well outside of town.

But Jesus had a solution to her real problem, a problem that was not a social or physical or emotional problem, but her eternal spiritual problem.  She was dying of thirst, not for water, but for the life giving mercy and forgiveness that only Jesus could give her, mercy and forgiveness that could give her eternal life and peace with God.

What are you thirsting for?  Do you desire love and acceptance from others?  Do you yearn to have physical needs and wants met?  Are you looking for someone or something that will make you at least temporarily happy?  Maybe, just maybe, that is not what you really need…  All of these things quench a thirst that will only come back again.

But our Lord Jesus can give you living water, a water of Life that removes sin and death and hell.  This living water is free for the asking and the well from whence it comes will never, ever run dry.  This living water flows from the throne of Jesus and gives life to all the world.  This living water quenches your eternal thirst.

Lord Jesus, give me Your living water.  Quench the thirstiness of my soul and bring true Life into me, that I might live with You forever and share that living water with all the world!  Amen.
