“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;  they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23 English Standard Version

Every morning when the sun comes up I am reminded that God is faithful, that His promises are true, that His mercies never end.  The Lord is a Rock that does not change, that does not move, a God upon whom I can depend continually.

And yet, at the same time, every morning is new and different, full of infinite, exciting possibilities.  God’s love is not only steady and dependable, it is fresh and full of joy.  The two sides of God, His faithfulness and His newness, are like my marriage with Margaret.  I depend on her steady, kind presence with me every day and yet at the same time, every day with her is full of joy and love.  Out of our steady, everyday relationship has come such heights of emotions and peace.

Our relationship with God are full of His everyday kindness and faithfulness that He gives you and me.  And every day the Lord surprises us with new and joyful experiences of His grace and mercy.  And so in our walk with Him we find great confidence and faith in Jesus and His death and resurrection and salvation.  We also find this deep, personal relationship with Jesus that is new every morning and holds us in His joyful embrace.

“Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not: Thy compassions they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”
