No Other Foundation

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:11

The church had waited years for this moment, the building of a new sanctuary. Again and again, the chance to build had been delayed.

Now, after so much work, and prayer, it was finally time to pour the foundation. In between the fall rains, the footings were poured and the cement slab was set. For those who understand building construction, this had been the crucial moment.

If the foundation had not been poured, the work could not have moved forward. Without the solid base there would be no walls, roof, or new sanctuary, but because there was a foundation all other things could be done!

Paul explains that same concept to you, and me, in the verse above. Without Jesus Christ as our foundation, all other building is in vain. Unless He is our base, there is no body of Christ, no hope of eternal life, and no salvation.

Because of His work, His dying, and His rising for you, and me, everything is possible. All things are possible because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our relationship to the Father is possible because of Jesus Christ. Our love for one another is possible because of Jesus Christ.  Our eternal life is possible because of Jesus Christ.  Our message of Good News for a dying world is possible because of Jesus Christ.

“Christ is our cornerstone, On Him alone we build;
With His true saints alone The courts of heav’n are filled.
On His great love Our hopes we place
Of present grace And joys above.”

Lord Jesus, You alone are our sure foundation. Upon You alone we build. In You alone we trust! Amen.
