No Relationship, No Trust

Our daily relationship with God deepens our trust in Him.

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.”
Jeremiah 17:7 New Living Translation

Recently, a fire broke out in a Colorado Springs neighborhood. Over 250 homes were evacuated as flames spread quickly through dry brush and swirling wind. A news reporter interviewed one young man watching the flames from a safe distance. He lived in one of the threatened homes.

“It made me nervous seeing the flames. All my stuff is in there and now I just need to trust the firemen with everything I own.”

He was resigned to trusting everything that mattered to him to people he had never met or even knew which house he owned.

In a crisis, many will turn to God when they feel their options are exhausted. But if they do not know God or have no relationship with Him and, if the outcome of their situation is not the one hoped for, they turn away from ever knowing Him.

When we are in a loving relationship with our Lord, we pursue Him knowing He will answer our prayers. But we know that God’s power is far more than just for granting our every wish. He longs for us to have a deeper relationship with Him. He answers our prayers in gracious and unexpected ways, always for the sake of growing our faith and understanding, so we will draw ever closer to Him. He meets our needs, fulfills our God-given desires and protects us along the way.

Sometimes we are too willing to trust people we think have more expertise than the God who loves us. Remember that God is your only true hope and your confidence, for you can truly count on Him to meet your every need.
