“What gain has the worker from his toil? I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
Ecclesiastes3:9-11a English Standard Version (ESV)
The tree is decorated.
However, it was not done on my schedule.
My husband fixed the malfunctioning light strand last Friday. We hoped we could finish decorating it sometime before Christmas.
On Saturday morning, we joined several members of the Colorado Springs Chorale to sing Christmas carols at several assisted living facilities. We then went to a dress rehearsal with the Philharmonic to prepare for Sunday’s concert. It was a long, emotionally tiring, yet satisfying, day.
It was dark when we entered our house. I turned to look at our tree. Instead of being dark, and bare, it was glowing with bright white lights, ornaments, garland and a star! There were pillows on the chairs, and stockings waiting to be fattened up with little treats.
Alexander, our son, finished the decorating.
It was a joyful surprise!
God makes everything beautiful in HIS time. Every person, bird, and flower is a beautiful creation of His hand, and is on this world according to His time. You and I are here by His design, to touch other lives, and to be touched by those we encounter.
He sent Jesus to be our Savior at the most perfect moment, although for many it seems a mystery. Why did He arrive 2,000 years ago? Why not today, and when will He return in glory?
“…he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he can not find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11b-13 ESV
So we rejoice in the birth of the Savior of the world. While we wait for His return let us live our lives in faith, sharing God’s love with everyone we encounter.
It’s time.
It’s His time.
