Rescued and Made New

As God molds us into His masterpiece, we need to be patient with His process.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10 New Living Translation

There are many social media videos of people who find broken, tired or well-worn items and rescue them from the junk pile. They painstakingly restore and often improve the item’s condition so it can be useful and beautiful again.

This process usually takes hours of work, but we don’t see the whole experience. The restoration work is sped up to fit into a timed video, but it usually takes hours and hours to find and replace any broken parts, sand down wood and upgrade hardware or paint. These do-it-yourself advocates enjoy their work because they love the transformation of a project well done.

Our brokenness is healed by God in a similar fashion. He invests tenderness and care into remodeling our hearts and minds, using the right tools of His word, His power, and the Holy Spirit to transform us into His unique vision of what we would become.

While we want our renovation to be over like a 60 second video, God takes just the right amount of time healing the painful parts, removing the thoughts that hinder us and remodeling our broken minds. All this while building strength in us and giving us a new finish so that we can be renewed and grow into His unique purpose for us.

God remakes us out of love and sees our future self, the one He intends us to be. It may take a lifetime, but in the end we will all be transformed into God’s perfect image.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2 New Living Translation
