“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.”
Jude 20-21 New Living Translation

Experience teaches us that there are no guarantees in life for our physical safety. We take risks every day just living in this world. We don’t know if we will become ill, injured, falsely accused, or lose a loved one. It’s just not possible to insulate ourselves, like these people in the plastic bubbles, from the pain and hurt of living.

And Scripture promises us that we will not be safe on this earth. Whether through our own choices, at the hand of others or by the deterioration of all things because of sin, we will all suffer in some way. This fact causes us anxiety and fear because it’s human to want freedom from pain and suffering for us, our loved ones and also the world.

Christ asks us to not worry about our safety, but to live for His glory and purpose. That is the most purposeful risk we take, to live in such a way that others will see Christ. While this builds up others in the faith, it may not keep you safe from those who detest God. But remember, you are not doing this alone. Christ suffered and died for you, to insure eternal life with Him.

“Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.”
1 Peter 3:18 New Living Translation

God is always in total control. No matter what you face, He will be with you and keep you safe in His indestructible love.
