Serving

Where Should I Serve?

You can listen to today’s devotion by clicking on this SoundCloud link.

There is a lot of freedom in the United States. We decide if, where, and how we want to worship, work, play, and live. Freedom is amazing, but for Christians that can bring confusion.

I was attempting to sort out if should continue connecting with a group of people, and as I was praying, God reminded me of Sodom and Gomorrah.

…Abraham still stood before the Lord. Then Abraham drew near and said, ‘Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you!
Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?’ And the Lord said, ‘If I find at Sodom
fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.’”
Genesis 18:22-26 English Standard Version

In this story, Abraham continues to whittle down the number to ten. I believe if Abraham continued to ask God about how many he would rescue, and he got down to one person that God would still say yes.

As I’m asking God should I continue to minister to a particular group, He shows me that if there is even just one person who is looking for Him, that is enough for me to stay on the path to walk with them.

One person is enough for us to continue to serve. Jesus spoke to the masses but connected intimately with the individual. He went out of His way to find the one person that God wanted to touch. I pray that the one person who needs to encounter Christ through you is enough to keep you going.
