“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4 New Living Translation
This photo was taken from the top floor of a multi-story building. There is a clear, unobstructed view of Pikes Peak. Even the trees on the street below don’t interfere with the view of the mountains. You know they are there, but your focus is drawn to the majestic peak.
When we focus on Christ, we have a clear view of who He is and of His will for our life. But if we gaze intently at the world around us, we become distracted. Anxiety and chaos overtake our mind and heart. Satan loves to redirect our attention to those things that will disrupt our purpose or path.
Scripture tells us to not copy the behavior and lifestyles of this world, but to let Christ transform you into a person whose only focal point is on Him and His kingdom. We still know that evil and worldly distractions exist, but we are not misled to believe they should be worthy of our time or energy. You are saved by Christ for a new life in Him. Look up and focus on the One who loves you dearly and center your sight on Him!
