Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”
John 4:32-33 English Standard Version

My days are dictated by the appointments on the calendar. Clients count on me to be there for them, so I cannot plan to do other things in those time slots, even when it’s important.

Eating is one of those important things. In fact, it’s essential for life. In order to perform at my best, whether it’s training a client or working out with my trainer, I have to eat at regular intervals during the day. Healthy food provides the energy to do what needs to be done. Failing to eat can result in a loss of focus, fatigue, and a physical sense of malaise.

If you work with clients, you may understand how challenging this can be, especially when a neatly-arranged schedule goes awry at the last minute. One can get by on a snack or fast food, but sooner or later the body must be fed with wholesome food.

How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the Lord;
Psalm 84: 1-2 ESV

Spending time in God’s Word is nutrition for the soul. In fact, nothing will nourish your heart and soul more. God is always there for you – talk to Him in prayer, and listen to Him in His Word.

Like meals, this can require a little planning, and perhaps a bit of flexibility when the enemy throws a rock in your path to cause you to stumble. One strategy is to read for a couple of minutes during a meal or snack time. Try a parable during a meal, or a short Psalm during a snack. If you have the Bible in book form, let the book fall open and see where you land.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
John 6:35 ESV

You may be surprised at the treat God has in store for you!

They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
John 6:34 ESV
