“God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.”
Genesis 1:31a (NIV)

Whenever I go to the lumber yard and see the almost infinite amount of building materials there, my mind gets a little dizzy thinking about all the different possibilities of plans and building projects and houses and sheds and garages and structures of every kind that could be built with those basic materials.

Imagine what it must have been like for God, who can create an infinite variety of designs out of nothing, when He looked at the possibilities He might create.  When His Spirit hovered over the waters and He determined to create Light and stars and planets and earth and plants and trees and oceans and fish and birds and animals and even people.  In infinite variety He designed and breathed life into them all and He looked at all of it and said, “This is very good!”

And as if that was not enough, imagine how after Man had sinned, the Lord created an unbelievable plan of mercy and grace to bring His Son into the world to become one of us and to suffer and die for us sinners!  We could never have seen that possibility, that depth of Love and forgiveness.

And then imagine your life before you and see the vast number of ways the Lord has planned for you and I to serve Him and to do amazing good works of kindness and witness and joy.  All this too, was in God’s plan as the Spirit hovered over the waters and God contemplated His plans and His joy of creation.

Lord, fill me with joy at your infinitely wise and amazing creation and redemption of this world.  Fill me with joy at serving you in an ever changing variety of ways !  In the Name of Jesus.  Amen.
