Spring Returns

Awakening the Soul

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Isaiah 43:19, English Standard Version

As winter loosens its grip and the days grow longer, the arrival of spring reminds us that light is overcoming darkness. The earth begins to awaken. Buds form, colors return, and life stirs beneath what once seemed barren. Lent invites us into a similar awakening of the soul.

This season calls us to repentance, reflection, and renewal. Like the soil being softened for new growth, our hearts are gently turned back toward God. What once felt dry or lifeless can, through His grace, be restored. Scripture reminds us: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19).

Just as spring does not arrive all at once, spiritual renewal often comes quietly, faithfully, over time. In this Lenten season, may we trust that God is at work, bringing new life, deeper faith, and the promise of resurrection.
