New Not Old

As I’m writing this, our area is still under a state health directive. It’s easy during this time to think about all the things we’re missing and everything we’re going to do after things open up. I have to be careful not to miss the moments that I’m currently in.
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
Isaiah 43:18-19 English Standard Version
Notice that God is telling Isaiah that he is doing a new thing now and not to think about the past. Let’s add to that not thinking about the future. If we really pay attention to what God is doing in the moment, we are in rhythm with his actions, thoughts and words.
We need to learn from history; however, we also need to know that God can do something different. The prophetic word is knowledge of what’s to come. It’s important information to store away.
Yet, why does God want us to be concerned about the present rather than the past or the future? He wants us to be in rhythm with him because he loves us, and He knows it’s best if we are in-tune with him.
“Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you,”
Isaiah 43:4 English Standard Version
He knows this is the best spot for us, not looking ahead or behind but in perfect peace and rhythm with Him.
Our job is to rest in Him and trust that He is working everything out on our behalf.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:29 English Standard Version
As we listen to His voice and word, He will let us know when to move.
