” … for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.”
Philippians 2:13

Something was wrong with my foot. “It wasn’t that I had injured it,” the doctor told me, “it was a genetic problem that needed to be corrected.”

My foot hurt. I knew that I needed to have it corrected. But did I trust this surgeon to cut into my foot, remove a piece of bone and insert a screw? I decided that I did trust that surgeon, and I had the surgery done.

In the same way, something is wrong with your soul.  It is not so much what you have done to your soul, as it is a genetic problem. You and I have been born with a propensity toward sin, toward a rebellion against God, and the problem is not just going to go away. You and I need a really good surgeon, the Master Surgeon!

But can you trust Him, He who would remove the sin in your soul with an ever so delicate surgery that only He can perform? After all, He is the One who created you and all things. He is the One who sent His Son to die on a cross that this surgery might be performed. He promises that whatever He does, it will be for your good according to His perfect plan.

Will you trust the Physician of your soul? Will you trust Him who loves you and wishes to remove your sin and heal all your diseases, Who is the Savior of the world? I pray that you might trust Him, for “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Only in Him is there healing for the sin-sick soul… Amen.
