Traveling in the Czech Republic this week, I’ve taken in many sights. Cathedrals, museum’s, even bridges are obsessed with God. This country is not unusual with its emphasis. Every country I’ve been to has some historical element dedicated to their G(g)od.
The world is looking for the King of the universe to settle into their marrow, to complete them. It’s evident by the short-sided attempts people attempt to fill the empty Christ-size void. As Christians we know that missing element can only be complete with the living Christ.
Paul knew this well when he wrote to Timothy.
“To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
1 Timothy 1:17
In his letter to Timothy Paul clears up any confusion over who God is in one precise sentence.
His obsession with Christ was obvious and intense, more than likely due to the encounter in Damascus. He wanted God and only God, no substitutions.
Even in countries and churches obsessed with religious history and preserving Christian artifacts, the point can be missed.
Pursuing God and receiving His love to pour out on everyone in front of us is critical to our mission while on Earth. We are to be the hands and feet of God.
“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
I pray that we all become obsessed today! Go and pour God’s love out on someone.
