Things Change

Trying to keep up.

These days, it seems as if change happens so fast that we don’t even realize when it happens. It feels like we’re immune to change because all we are used to is change. Sometimes, things change so quickly that it is overwhelming, and it’s hard to keep up.

We can’t go a single week anymore without new technological advances. Cell phone companies seemingly come out with a newer, better product before we can even purchase what we thought was the newer better product. If you don’t keep up, you’ll be obsolete, left behind. Change is not only relevant to technological advances, but those advances are a large catalyst for much of the change that takes place all around us.

It can be difficult to navigate the maze of confusion we have created for ourselves. There is so much information available at the click of a button (both good and bad) that we can’t possibly retain all of it or understand all of it. Sometimes it’s hard to recognize if the information available to us is true or false, even when that information supposedly comes from reliable sources.

Today’s world will tell you that there is no truth, there is no objective interpretation of history or the events around us. You can decide for yourself what truth is (as long as you don’t disagree with me).

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
John 17:17 English Standard Version.

God brings peace to this storm of confusion. God has given us His Word, a gift to us that will never change, never cease to be relevant, and can never be ineffective. It is trustworthy, because it comes from the source of truth.

All truth belongs to God.

Jesus Christ came into this world to clear the confusion. In Christ we have clarity. He has done away with confusion on the Cross and in His resurrection. Cling to the Word and the gifts God has graciously given you, so that you may not live in confusion, but rather in confident reliance upon Him.
