What’s the Use?

We are useful even in daunting times.

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
1 Corinthians 15:58 New Living Translation

This lamp is an ordinary object. It emits light as lamps are expected to do. But this light is shining during the day when it’s not needed, and it’s far from anyone who may need to use it. It’s not being useful right now. Maybe it’s even wasting fuel for something not necessary in the daylight.

We all have times in life where we feel useless. The world’s message urges us to create our value and give back to the world. Even if we feel we are led by God’s plan for our lives and are working for Him and His kingdom, we may feel we haven’t contributed as much as we hoped or seen the success we desired.

Fortunately, God doesn’t look at value or success the way the world does or that we might. He gives us work that we often don’t understand or from which we may never see any results. God asks us to have faith that He will use us even when we think it’s hopeless or useless.

Nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless! He has a perfect plan and the power to use your gifts and abilities far more abundantly than you can ever imagine. Never give up enthusiastically working for Christ and His kingdom, because He never gives up on you.
