Who is Leading You?

“He guides me along right paths for His name’s sake.”
Psalm 23:3b New International Version

Life can be like a great kayaking adventure.  There are beautiful sights, challenging opportunities, and some really hard work.  But it’s important that you don’t get lost along the way.  And for that reason you need a guide, someone who has been this way before, someone who knows how to navigate the dangerous waterways, someone whom you can trust to lead you along right paths.

On your great journey of life who is leading you?  Are you relying on your own intuition, your own judgment, your own experience?  Are you trusting your own integrity, your own character, your own goodness?  If you are, this journey is not going to go well nor end well.  You will fall into temptations and sin and bad company.  You will make bad choices and get yourself into predicaments from which you cannot escape.

You need a Guide whom you can trust.  Our Lord Jesus said that He would give His Word and His Holy Spirit to everyone who would follow Him and humbly ask for help.  He would save all those who would call on His name and no matter what very difficult challenges they would face, He would rescue them.  Jesus came to save you but you need to forsake what seems right to you and follow Him.  He is the Guide that can always be trusted.

No matter how far astray you have gone, no matter how many times you have sinned and gone off course, there is forgiveness and a new path and a new life in Him.  Trust Him, trust the Guide who will not fail you, trust him alone.  Yes, “even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.”  Amen.
