What We Can Learn From Animals

You can listen to today’s devotion by clicking this SoundCloud link.

Animals understand their place in God’s kingdom. They never question if God is who He really says He is because they not only lack reason, but they were created to worship Him.

Even the stork in the heavens knows her times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming, but my people know not the rules of the Lord.
Jeremiah 8:7 English Standard Version

Animals are designed to survive and don’t have to be told to do what they were created to do.

Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.
Proverbs 6:6-8 English Standard Version

Though we are the most advanced of all creatures God created, we can learn something by observing animals. The birds sing when the sun rises, spiders spin their webs without question, and bees collect pollen all because they know their occupation and are obedient to God.

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.
Romans 8:19 English Standard Version

How eager are we to watch for Jesus? Are we resisting the world’s wishes as we wait or are we more concerned how the world can fulfill us? I’m as guilty as any of getting caught up in the needs of the world, but when I can, I watch animals in their natural habitat and they inspire me to live a more pure life that honors God every day.

Take a little time every day to spend time in nature and enjoy God’s creation and creatures. Let it inspire you!
