A New Day

Have you ever noticed what a difference a new day makes, letting the emotions, the anger, the worries rest with a night of sleep?

I realized that when I have such heavy emotions, when the weight of the world seems to be pressing down, often the best solution is to crawl into bed and pray until I fall asleep. The next day often comes with a clearer mind and a calmer heart. The trials and difficulties do not disappear, but the dust seems to settle. My perspective loses some of those heavy clouds.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-17 New International Version

There are moments in this life, where getting through means taking it one day at a time. It’s easy to get overwhelmed staring at that looming mountain above. We want the entire problem solved and erased. 

Yet day by day, step by step, God carries us through. 

God promises that these troubles we face here and now, pale in comparison to the eternal glory we will one day experience. The trials and suffering will not be in vain but will achieve something greater than we could have ever hoped for or imagined.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
Lamentations 3:22-24

God’s compassion and His love and His blessings are new every morning. Each time we rise, He has a new cup of overflowing, overwhelming, boundless love. He is forever faithful to His covenant promise.

  1. Beautifully said! Sometimes I am praying multiple times a day for the Lord to carry the burden & grant me the peace & knowledge that He is in control. How blessed we are that He hears us and provides that!
