Going Nowhere?

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version

A Ferris wheel is the oddest thing.  People get on for a ride.  They strap in and go around and around for five minutes.  And then they get off and they are still in exactly the same place!  All that expectation and energy expended and they haven’t really gone anywhere!  I know, I know, it is fun to ride the Ferris wheel.  I am just making a point about life here.

You see, many people feel that their life is just like a never ending Ferris wheel, going around and around and never going anywhere.  They get up in the morning, shower, dress, eat, go to work, come home, watch TV and media, go to bed… and get up in the morning and do it all over again.  Until they die.

That is not how God envisions your life, a never ending merry-go-round that goes nowhere.  The Lord says, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  The Lord created and redeemed you in Christ Jesus, to experience His amazing grace, peace, and joy, to be His witnesses, His light, to a world without meaning or hope.  And He destined you to live with Him in eternal joy with all those who would accept His plan for them in Jesus.

The life without Jesus has little meaning, hope, or joy.  But in Him there is hope and a future that never ends.  Get off the merry-go-round!  God has a wonderful forever plan for your life. Amen.
