At Peace

We long to experience a real, lasting peace.

According to some studies, about 40% of Americans have problems sleeping due to stress, worry and fear. When we see a sleeping child looking peaceful and secure, we envy their ability to seemingly not have a care in the world. We long to achieve that kind of inner peace. We may remember times when we felt peaceful, but that feeling can be as fleeting and intangible as trying to hold onto a sunset.

You will keep in perfect peace
    all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the Lord always,
for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.”
Isaiah 26:3-4 New Living Translation

The world spends a lot of time and energy trying to obtain inner peace. There are thousands of self-help books, specialized psychologists, You Tube videos, meditation apps, and other resources that will help you achieve the peace that eludes you. While some of these may help provide a sense of calm, the truth is no one can find perfect peace apart from our Lord and Savior. He is the only one who can provide peace through forgiveness, healing, restoration, grace, mercy and love. When you are focused on God and His love for you, worry melts away and you experience a peace that can’t be explained as it fills your entire being.

Fix all your thoughts on Christ!

“His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 New Living Translation
