“As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your decrees.
Please don’t give up on me!”
Psalm 119:6-8 New Living Translation

I recently upgraded to a new work laptop, as my previous one was out of warranty and beginning to lose some functionality. It’s great to have a computer with more power, a better screen and faster response times. But there are always adjustments that need to be made that you may not be expecting. Installing an older printer, finding the optimum monitor resolution, enabling use of a software program—all these can be easy to do or, if you run into a problem, you’ll need professional assistance that takes up way more time than you hoped.

Loving the Lord, we are continually seeking to improve our relationship with Christ. This includes making changes and seeking wisdom in our own lives that would optimize our ability to use our gifts and talents to serve Him. Of course, we need to seek His help as we learn and grow. He reveals those areas in our lives that need a reboot or an overhaul. Hopefully, we learn from His word, the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and from the experiences He places before us. Some lessons are easier than others, but we often stand in our own way either insisting we know what we need to learn or ignoring what needs to be changed in our lives.

Yet God never abandons us. He walks alongside us and guides us to become the child he wants us to be. Even if we get frustrated at times with ourselves or even with God, never give up! Faithfully pursuing His best for us is an amazing blessing, and a wonderful way to honor Him.
