Fallen Fenceposts

In any storm we have a secure foundation.

“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
Matthew 7:25 New International Version

I looked out the window to see two sections of our fence lying on the ground. A fast-moving wind had ripped through the yard and snapped the fencepost. Without reliable support, the fence fell to the ground.

The old fence needs replacing but, even though it is rickety, the posts were what gave way in the storm. The foundation of the fence rotted from rain running down the slope of our backyard and finally collapsed in the strong wind.

We struggle daily against the whirlwind of life. Our bodies may be rickety; our minds suffer from splintered thoughts; we work hard to make it through each hectic day without falling over.

The fence can’t rise and fix itself. Neither can we. We can’t stand strong against worry and anxiety if our foundation is shaky. Thankfully, God raises us off the ground of weariness and failure and reattaches us to His fencepost of strength, healing, and restoration. He alone gives us the ability to press on every single time we fail. He alone carries us through every daunting circumstance.

We replaced the fencepost and reattached the fence sections so it will hold up through the next storm. Newly secure fenceposts of faith in Christ always hold us up no matter the length of our days or what we endure. Bracing our souls with God’s wonderful word of hope and strength keep us cemented and secure in Him.

Though daily life can be overwhelming and eat away at your inner peace, set aside moments to read His words of grace. Listen to His thoughts of love for you.  Never let go of your reliance on Christ. He will forever be your unshakable foundation.
