How Much Would You Pay?

“…God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us…”
Titus 2:13-14. English Standard Version

This lighthouse sits just into the Atlantic Ocean, in front of the mouth of the Piscataqua River, a stone’s throw from Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  Owned by the Federal Government, the Lighthouse is for sale.  The government will continue to take care of the light!  The buyer is responsible for the structure, whose walls are 5-feet thick.  Sixty feet tall, the last time storm waves crashed OVER the top was in 1991, during a storm we know of as “The Perfect Storm.”

Don’t worry about storms.  Remember, it stood in the way of the Perfect Storm and still stands 32 years later! How much would you pay? Cash deal? Or would you need to finance?

Imagine if God paused (speaking hypothetically of course!) at the purchase price for our redemption from sin, death and the power of the devil!  There was no “borrowing” someone else’s son.  No promising to return him in good shape, if a little worse for wear.  No price was to great to God to pay for us.  How much would God pay for us, for you?  His Only-Begotten Son. If we really want something, we work hard to find a way to pay for it. None of it holds a candle to how much the Lord wants us. How much the Lord loves us. How much the Lord wants you. How much the Lord loves you.

When we feel as though we have little value; if we feel like the kid chosen last for a team; should anyone ever suggest that we are of no consequence, look for this Lighthouse.  The brilliant Light of Christ is a beacon for you, straight to your soul.  ‘Come home, you for whom I willingly gave myself to redeem.  You are precious.  You have unparalleled value.  My Church, yes, my heart is not complete without you.’
