“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Proverbs 4:23 New Living Translation

Switch locks were used to secure railway switches to keep unauthorized people from changing the switches and potentially sending a train down the wrong tracks. We all know that the consequences of a train accident are often deadly. It’s unimaginable that anyone would want to deliberately cause one to happen.

Yet there are people who not only do not have a relationship with God but are determined that no one else should, either. Satan will use their arguments and ridicule to try to derail us by twisting the truth and sending us down the wrong path. Sometimes we may be tempted to investigate other belief systems when we feel that we are not getting the life we want, or that God is not answering our prayers in the way we hoped. We forget that we are in relationship with a loving God who only wants the best for us, even though we can’t always see the outcome in our timeline.

Fortunately, we have the Holy Spirit who helps keep us on the right path and guards our hearts by reminding us that we have a God who is real and who is for us. Do not let anyone lead you away from Christ. Do not seek out anything other than His Word and His presence. He has not abandoned you. He will answer you. Guard your heart and lock your mind on Him.

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 New Living Translation
