Have you ever planted a garden and, while you were watering it, found some fruit you hadn’t noticed before? Maybe you moved a couple of leaves and there they were, tomatoes hidden in the darkness of the abundant foliage. The promise of future fruit is indeed exciting!

“I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”
Isaiah 45:3 New Living Translation

There are times when God surprises us with fruit that was kept hidden from us until just the right time. The Holy Spirit reveals attributes about God we never experienced before or maybe even knew existed. It is always exciting and humbling when God chooses to reveal something new about who He is.

But to get any fruit or vegetables to grow and ripen for harvesting, plants need good soil, fertilizer, some pruning and protection from insects and animals. That’s what God does for us—feeding us with His word, removing the decaying parts of us and protecting us from anything that would keep us from maturing in Him. Then we can produce fruit for His kingdom.

Maybe you are experiencing adversity or strife that seems overwhelming, and you can’t imagine any hidden treasures or fruit being born of this struggle. I encourage you to not give up!

Trust God to be your Master Gardener, and you will experience hidden treasures revealed to you through the Holy Spirit. It may seem like a long time before you ripen. Stay strong in Him! Allow His truth to nurture and grow in you. The Lord your God has called you by name! He will never fail or leave you! He wants you to know His love and peace.

You are His treasure whom He loves very much!
