God’s Word contains the most valuable instructions you will ever need to assemble a successful life.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”
2 Timothy 3:16 New Living Translation

How many of you read the instruction books that come with your power tools or other purchases? If we are honest many of us don’t even look for the directions to put together furniture, or to read any safety warnings the instructions might contain. We just forge ahead, often with mixed results, and may regret our decision making process.

We face many bad examples, and receive bad advice, that will lead us down a broken path. Mixed with the temptations in this world, and Satan daily attempting to lead us astray, we may feel like we are surviving without suitable guidance to live our best life on earth, but our merciful God gave us an “instruction manual” for living the life God wants for us. His perfect words to us, in Scripture, is a must read for all areas of life.

Paul lists four areas of the benefits of Scripture in this verse. First, Scripture is profitable for teaching. It is to be used to instruct people to know God better. Second, Scripture exposes our sin, which will drive us to the cross of Jesus and His salvation. Third, Scripture is useful for correction, both pointing out sin and offering a solution to it. Fourth, Scripture is profitable for training in righteousness that we can apply to our daily life. From Scripture we learn what is true, what is wrong, how to correct wrong, and how to apply truth.

While you may not always read directions before assembling something, don’t neglect to read, and obey, God’s Word given to you for living your life. A life based on His words will be blessed, and will always turn out pleasing to Him.
