The Lord Heard My Cry!
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set me feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.”
Psalm 40:1-2 English Standard Version
Sometimes you are really stuck in the pit of despair. There seems to be no way out of your circumstances and you feel abandoned and without hope. You may even feel that God has deserted you!
But the Lord has not deserted you. He has heard your cry for help. He will draw you up out of the pit of destruction, the miry bog. And he will place your feet upon a rock and make your steps secure.
God’s promises in Christ Jesus are forever true. On the cross Jesus was forsaken, abandoned, suffered and died. He took all your sins upon himself that you might never be forsaken.
No matter what Satan may tell you when you are in a dire place, Jesus is still with you. And he will rescue you from destruction and every evil. In Jesus you are never really stuck.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you were forsaken that I might never have to despair. I trust in you, O Lord. Amen.
