This I Know

Jesus Loves Me

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5: 8, English Standard Version

This banner is displayed over our son’s crib. I find myself singing or humming the song to him as we rock. Such a sweet and simple reminder for the indescribable, unrivaled, sacrificial love of the Savior. This week we face some deeper, tougher realities. Our Lord was worshiped, praised and followed in one moment. In another, He was betrayed, denied, punished, pierced and crucified.

We read and we weep this week as we remember why Jesus endured such a horrifying death. He did it for us — while we were still sinners. The weight of the world upon his shoulders. Our sins held Him there until the Father’s plan was finished. My girl leaned over in church today after we read about Peter’s triple denial of Jesus. With a somber look she said, “we do that probably a thousand times a day.” She’s right. Thank you, Lord for Jesus and your unconditional love.
