His Love Reaches to the Skies

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
Psalm 86:5 ESV

The goodness of God is eminent throughout the Bible and in our lives directly. The word “good” is used and thrown around in our vernacular today. The definition of good is “of a favorable character or tendency.” When speaking of character, that goes much deeper than our connotation of “good.”

The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.
Psalm 145:9 NIV

God is forgiving us again and again. He calls to us and redeems us. He has washed us clean, by His blood, despite our constant going astray and rejecting God. It is the kind of forgiveness I can’t wrap my head around. I personally can only receive a rejection so many times (only a couple really) and I will gladly give up. But this is not the case with God.

His love is steadfast, reaching to the skies. It is endless and unfathomable. It is perfect and ever-reaching out to us. There is no sin too deep or far off place we could wander to, that God will not keep loving us. His perfect love is beyond anything we could comprehend.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

The Lord our God is good. He is forgiving. He is abounding in steadfast love. No matter what we have done, no matter what we will do, no matter what is happening in our homes, no matter what is happening around the globe. He is steadfast, unchanging, and good. He is faithful in His love and forgiveness and redemption. And He is a God that we can call whenever and wherever. We can call upon Him day or night. He desires that communication with His children.

Jesus, Thank you for your steadfast love and for your goodness and forgiveness. Thank you for who you are and how you love. We  praise your most holy name. Amen.
