I have loved you with an everlasting love;
    therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

Jeremiah 31:3 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Bonkers the cat is a big boy. He doesn’t fit inside much of the cat furniture in his home, so he usually sleeps on a bed, or on the top perch of a cat tree. On occasion, he will nap in his carrier because it surrounds him and it’s spacious. This has made it easier for my daughter Lisa to take him to the vet.

Recently, Lisa caught him fast asleep in a bed that is usually occupied by his much smaller roommate. Although he is almost too big for this bed, he has found a way to curl up snugly. with his front paws wrapped around his back legs and tail. Perhaps he feels he is being snuggled as he sleeps.

Bonkers is safe and secure. He is nestled peacefully as he sleeps. Lisa provides him with everything he needs.

When I first saw this photo, I thought of how well God knows exactly what we need. We trust that it’s the right provision for us, now, at this moment.

“(Jesus said) Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Matthew 6:25-26 NRSV

God supplies our needs, first by sending his Son to redeem our sins. Surrounded by that assurance, the sinful world we live in cannot overcome us. Through Christ we are continually reborn into that assurance, which is the foundation on which our faith stands.
